In September, the China General Chamber of Commerce released the first‑batch standard‑compliant projects of “Silver‑Hair Golden Street” and “Kids‑Friendly Paradise” under the 2026 15‑Minute Community Life Circles initiative. The “Silver‑Hair Golden Street” Project of Sunrain · Zaishan Ji in Longmenshan Town, Pengzhou has made the list.

A 1‑Kilometre Custom‑Built Street Wins Hearts of Large Numbers of Seniors

Baoshan Village in Longmenshan Town is known as “Little Switzerland of Western Sichuan”. Every summer, large numbers of seniors travel from cities to Baoshan Village for summer retreats and long‑stay tourism. Yet for them, scenic beauty is often not the top priority. What they care most about is convenient dining, adequate medical support, accessible health management and rich social activities. Today, Sunrain · Zaishan Ji “Silver‑Hair Golden Street” precisely addresses these demands of senior visitors. Here, “safe dining, pleasant sightseeing and worry‑free shopping” have become tangible, everyday experiences.

Sunrain · Zaishan Ji “Silver‑Hair Golden Street” is located in Baoshan Village, Longmenshan Town, right in the heart of the national 4A‑level Baoshan Tourist Attraction. It is a new landmark for wellness‑oriented residence and travel jointly built by Pengzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the People’s Government of Longmenshan Town.

Stretching one kilometre in total length, the project covers a service area of approximately 1.5 million square metres. It serves four villages and communities, namely Baoshan Village, Tuanshan Village, Baishuihe Community and Xiaoyudong Community, benefiting around 80,000 long‑stay visitors, of whom roughly 65,000 are seniors. For them, the one‑kilometre span is a comfortable walking distance, and also the reassuring service scope of the 15‑Minute Community Life Circle.

How can a commercial street be transformed into a full‑fledged life circle? The answer lies in every thoughtful detail.

“This is no conventional commercial street that focuses merely on shopping and consumption. Instead, it puts senior‑oriented services at its core,” said an official from Pengzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce. “Working together with Longmenshan Town, we have targeted senior groups and pioneered the distinctive model of a ‘mountain‑resort‑style Silver‑Hair Golden Street’. We convert tourist foot traffic from the scenic spot into visitors for the street, and shift from pure consumption to comprehensive services. A wellness and long‑stay service network has been established following the mechanism of ‘scenic spot attracting visitors, street delivering services, communities sharing resources’. It enables seniors to enjoy convenient dining, sound medical facilities, accessible health management and diverse social activities, so that they can settle down here with genuine peace of mind.”

Construction of Sunrain · Zaishan Ji “Silver‑Hair Golden Street” commenced in 2022, with hardware and software age‑friendly upgrades carried out simultaneously. Renovation plans revolved around seniors’ daily needs, covering entrance ramps, night‑time lighting, rest benches and public restrooms.

To date, the street has completed barrier‑free renovations at 20 locations, added 10 sets of leisure benches, replaced 35 units of age‑adapted lighting equipment, and refurbished 10 standard age‑friendly restrooms. Full barrier‑free access has been realised across all primary and secondary entrances as well as pedestrian walkways.

“I come to Baoshan every year. I used to dread the numerous steps, slippery pavements and dim night‑time lighting. Things are much better now. The street lamps shine brightly. I can take a rest on benches when tired from walking, and the restrooms are well adapted for the elderly. I feel much more at ease when going out for a stroll,” praised tourist Mr. Liu.

Over 30 Stores Line the Street, Covering Dining, Accommodation, Wellness, Shopping and Recreation

With improved hardware in place, business formats have also converged toward senior‑oriented services. Since investment promotion was launched in June 2024, Sunrain · Zaishan Ji “Silver‑Hair Golden Street” in Baoshan has cultivated 3 senior‑focused catering providers, 4 wellness and physiotherapy outlets, 5 senior‑goods retailers and 14 cultural and entertainment service merchants. It has also introduced multiple well‑known chain brands as well as local home‑grown brands run by Pengzhou entrepreneurs.

“More than 30 stores now operate along this street, integrating diverse business formats including specialty catering, convenience retail, wellness physiotherapy, long‑stay accommodation and daily‑life services. Each store displays the unified plaque of ‘Senior‑Friendly Merchant of Silver‑Hair Golden Street’, delivering more standardised and reliable services,” said an official from Pengzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce. “One‑stop services covering dining, wellness, shopping and recreation are available for the elderly, allowing them to dine and consume with complete peace of mind.”

The street adds services precisely in response to seniors’ real‑life demands. Health management serves as the reassuring cornerstone for seniors’ long‑stay experience. Jointly with Longmenshan Town, Pengzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce set up the Yixin Health Management Centre. Expert teams from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine provide on‑site services, working in coordination with Longmenshan Town Health‑care Centre. Basic physical examinations such as infrared thermal imaging are offered, alongside sleep conditioning and chronic disease management. Supporting services including hot‑spring hydrotherapy, acupuncture and tuina massage are also available, bringing professional healthcare within easy reach.

Physical wellbeing alone is not enough; fulfilling social lives are equally important. The Baoshan Cultural Centre regularly runs special programmes including singing‑bowl healing, senior yoga and rural cultural lectures. Open‑air concerts, community variety shows and neighbourhood parties are held in rotation, offering seniors places to go, fun activities to enjoy and a sense of belonging during their long‑stay.

The street also addresses the common trouble of carrying heavy groceries for the elderly. Leveraging the Baoshan Preferred distribution system, it has launched the “Baoshan Express” delivery service. Free home delivery is provided within a 3‑kilometre radius. Seniors no longer need to carry grain, cooking oil and daily necessities by themselves, bringing them greater convenience and saving physical effort.

“I used to come to Baoshan just to hike during the day, with hardly anything to do at night. Things are different now. I have taken part in senior yoga and singing‑bowl healing sessions. Whenever open‑air concerts and community variety shows are staged, everyone sings and dances together — it is incredibly lively. Restaurants, supermarkets and physiotherapy shops are just steps away, and daily shopping has become far more convenient,” smiled tourist Ms. Wang. “This is more than just a trip; it is truly a chance to enjoy a blessed life. Visiting Pengzhou fills me with complete peace of mind.”

Such pleasant experiences are being extended to more long‑stay scenarios. Longmen Spring Garden Hotel is a favoured destination where many seniors choose to slow down for an in‑depth experience. Integrating professional health management, premium hot‑spring accommodation, cultural‑leisure commerce and tranquil wellness residences, the hotel creates an all‑in‑one space for wellness‑oriented long‑stay travel. Here, oxygen‑rich mountain forests refresh the breath, hot springs soothe body and mind, and time‑honoured herbal aromas restore vitality. At the intersection of tradition and modernity, nature and local culture, every guest can embark on genuine wellness and healing journeys.

From a single commercial street to a 15‑Minute Community Life Circle, and from scenic‑spot popularity to tangible wellbeing for senior residents, Sunrain · Zaishan Ji “Silver‑Hair Golden Street” links dining, accommodation, wellness, shopping and recreation across its one‑kilometre stretch. More importantly, it brings seniors peace of mind and a sense of belonging. Even so, this street is merely one example of Pengzhou’s city‑wide efforts to pursue high‑quality development of the silver‑hair economy.

At present, Pengzhou takes sleep‑oriented healing as its breakthrough point. Drawing on its ecological resources, hot‑springs and traditional Chinese medicine heritage, the city keeps improving the industrial ecosystem for sleep health. It attracts well‑known brands and distinctive wellness scenarios to cluster locally, driving steady growth of the sleep‑economy sector. Pengzhou is striving to build itself into the “Realm of Deep Sleep · Western China Capital of Healing”.

From “having a place to stay” to “living a fulfilling life”, and from “old‑age support” to “enjoying one’s later years”, Pengzhou leverages the 15‑Minute Community Life Circle as its platform. Through more thoughtful services, comprehensive safeguards and heart‑warming experiences, it enables seniors to “dine, travel and shop with confidence”, making enjoyable later‑life living readily accessible across Pengzhou.
